The - 10 - Collective Art Show - Enthusiasm with Friends!
WOW!! Another exciting, crowd-filled show at the Textile Museum in Almonte last weekend, (April 22 23, 2023). The artists outdid themselves with new work and were kept busy answering questions, wrapping paintings and enjoying the crowds of enthusiastic art lovers on two days that turned out to be sunny and warm. It was an exciting time for me too just to be associated with these fine artists and be energized by the many compliments from visitors coming my way. It all helps to recharge my batteries and make promises to myself to get back outside with brushes in hand soon as possible! Of course, it all wouldn't happen with out the capable planning and production talents of artist Eileen Hennemann, who brings professionalism and high energy to the show each year. We hope to see everyone in 2025 for another bash.
Participating artists: Lily Swain, Charles Spratt, Kaija Savinainen, Jennifer Noxon, Maria Moldovan, Katherine McNenly, Eileen Hennemann, Jill Halliday, Amelia Ah You, Bhat Boy, Alan Stanley

Manotick Art Association PLEIN AIR PAINTING PROGRAM 2023
I am proud to say that the Manotick Art Association Plein Air Painting Program is well underway-except for a cancellation due to hazardous air quality from forest fires in June. The program continues, each Thursday until the end of September. I am pleased to be in charge once again along with a number of great helpers. The way it works, is this: Everyone on my email list will receive an email, a week before the next Thursday painting day, giving the location and driving directions. Everyone is free to venture out or not, but usually there are 10 to 20 attending, depending on the weather. We meet at 9:30 am and finish at 12:00 noon. Before we depart for home, the artists enjoy seeing everyone's unfinished work, but it is not obligatory to show your painting. Some bring a lunch and stay on. Some meet at a restaurant. The locations are less than an hours drive for most from Manotick, eg Merrickville, Almonte, Hoggs Back. It is a great way to meet other artists and improve your painting skills in any genre or medium. To register for the program ( you must be an MAA member - manotickart.ca). Then, drop me an email at csprattart@gmail.com. Charlie Spratt June 2023
The Ethel Curry Gallery
The Ethel Curry Gallery has an all new website, listing new and existing artists and activities. Check it out. http://www.ethelcurrygallery.com/
The Ethel Curry Gallery is an important fixture of the Town of Haliburton. It is named after Ethel Curry (1901 - 2000), an important Canadian painter and close friend to several members of the Group of Seven that came to paint in her area. (See Northern Belle, The Life and Times of Haliburton's Ethel Curry by Robert Popple). My association with the gallery began in 1998, when I was invited to teach watercolours at the Sir Sanford Fleming College Haliburton School of Fine Art. I am proud to say that I have been represented by the Ethel Curry Gallery ever since.
