Manotick Art Association PLEIN AIR PAINTING PROGRAM 2023
I am proud to say that the Manotick Art Association Plein Air Painting Program will begin on the first Thursday of June, which happens to be June 1, 2023. The program continues, each Thursday until the end of September. I am pleased to be in charge once again along with a number of great helpers. The way it works, is this: Everyone on my email list will receive an email a week before the painting day giving the location and directions. Everyone is free to attend or not. But usually there are 10 or more attending, depending on the weather. We meet at 9:30 am and finish at 12:00 noon. Before we leave at 12:00, the artists enjoy seeing the other's unfinished work, but it is not mandatory to show your painting for the day. Some bring a lunch and stay on. Some meet at a restaurant on occasion. The locations are less than an hours drive from Manotick, eg Merrickville, Almonte. Hoggs Back. It is a great way to meet other artists and gain plein air painting skills. To register for the program (no commitment, but you must be an MAA member - manotickart.ca). Just drop me an email at csprattart@gmail.com
The Ethel Curry Gallery
The Ethel Curry Gallery has an all new website, listing new and existing artists and activities. Check it out. http://www.ethelcurrygallery.com/
The Ethel Curry Gallery is an important fixture of the Town of Haliburton. It is named after Ethel Curry (1901 - 2000), an important Canadian painter and close friend to several members of the Group of Seven that came to paint in her area. (See Northern Belle, The Life and Times of Haliburton's Ethel Curry by Robert Popple). My association with the gallery began in 1998, when I was invited to teach watercolours at the Haliburton School of Fine Art (Sir Sandford Fleming College). I am proud to say that I have been represented by the Ethel Curry Gallery ever since.
